Painting professionally since 2003, as a self-taught artist, I continually push the envelope of painting by mixing all types of paint and liquids (wine, beer, alcohol, polyurethane, fire, etc.) and the use of experimental and unconventional materials and techniques epitomizes expression of personal artistic freedom.. My work has been described as
“Freedom Made Visible”.
The work reflects my rebellious counter culture spirit. Not to be confused with Pollock or others; I have always been an abstract-expressionist painter… pretty much since the age of two. I continue to build an arsenal of techniques and a wealth of knowledge as the natural evolution from my experience continues to generate art for the Soul, not the sofa.
I am obsessed with painting the understated, often ignored or taken for granted, every day, background pieces of nature, and life, with vivid colors and energetically thrown paint, etc.
To visually develop these observations in an abstracted way, frequently presenting the everything of everyday life and nature, in juxtaposition. I work almost exclusively outdoors with Mother Nature incorporating all that she brings to the experience.
I have found my voice through this self-taught journey; the canvas documents my evolution from survival to freedom.
As does my personal evolution come through to the canvas, so does my awareness of and visual expression of today. It is the nature of Expressionists' work to reflect the human and world conditions as they unfold. That viewers feel the energy and are able to connect with the light or dark, expressed in the work is amazing.
Thank you for taking time to explore the work and thank all who have supported my work by collecting, and in so many other ways. You know who you are."
I've been published in North of the James; Richmond Times Dispatch; Style Magazine; Richmond Magazine, Over Fifty; numerous on-line magazines and articles and my art has been showcased in many art calendars. I promise to make every attempt to list and give credit to all.
